Friday Box Office – MADAGASCAR 3 Still on Top as ROCK OF AGES and THAT'S MY BOY Fall Flat
After one week of positive box office performance with the debuts of Madagascar 3 and Prometheus, things have gone back to bleak. That's because each of this weekend's new titles stumbled badly on their first day in theatres. Neither Rock of Ages, the PG-13 musical starring Tom Cruise, nor That's My Boy, the R-rated comedy starring Adam Sandler, managed to shine: Rock of Ages earned an estimated $5.3 million from 3,470 locations while That's My Boy took in just $4.6 million from 3,030. To illustrate how bad those numbers are for a summer movie, The Three Stooges earned more ($5.6 million) on its first Friday… in April. Granted, mid-June is not exactly a box office hot spot but even Mr. Popper's Penguins managed a $6.3 million debut at this time last year. So, instead of the $25 to $30 million that these titles were aiming for, they will now be lucky to see their weekend totals rise above the mid-teens. Of course, this is great news for Madagascar 3, which will continue to hold the top... - mediamage

Aaron Johnson Talks KICK-ASS 2; Says Filming Begins This Fall and It'll Be Rated R
This weekend, Collider got to participate in the press junket for Savages, the new film from three-time Oscar-winning filmmaker Oliver Stone. Based on Don Winslow's best-selling novel, the story follows two Laguna Beach entrepreneurs, Ben (Aaron Johnson) and Chon (Taylor Kitsch), and their shared girlfriend O (Blake Lively), who run a very lucrative business selling some of the best marijuana ever developed, which attracts the unwanted interest of the Mexican Baja Cartel. For more on the film, you can watch six clips here. While we will run the interviews about the film closer to its July 6th release in theaters, we did want to share what actor Aaron Johnson had to say to us about finally going into production on the Kick-Ass sequel, which is set to shoot in the Fall. He said that he has gotten to see a script, that it keeps the standard hard R feel of the fir st film, and that he's excited to get back in the suit. He also addressed the recent statement that American Psycho author Bret... - mediamage

By examining U.S. metropolitan areas, one can see that highly ecoefficient transportation systems tend to be located in certain regions of the country. TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Reboot Delayed to Address Script Issues
By now my reaction to a major Paramount film being pushed back to address major issues has become "classic Paramount!" After pushing G.I. Joe: Retaliation back nine months in order to post-convert the film to 3D and revive Channing Tatum and then hiring Damon Lindelof to rewrite the Brad Pitt-fronted zombie pic World War Z ahead of massive reshoots and production problems, Paramount has now delayed the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot (retitled Ninja Turtles) in order to address script issues. Originally slated for release in December 2013, the Michael Bay-produced reboot has now been pushed to May 16th, 2014 assuming these issues can be resolved. Hit the jump for more. Fans have been watching the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot closely throughout its development, mainly because Michael Bay is involved. Wrath of the Titans director Jonathan Liebesman is onboard to direct, and recent comments from Bay hinting at an origin story change for the beloved characters was not exactly... - mediamage
