Networks Buzzing Over Potential Michael J. Fox Comedy Series
Reports are coming in that Michael J. Fox (Back to the Future -- though does this man need an introduction?) is teaming up with director Will Gluck (Easy A) and writer Sam Laybourne (Arrested Development) to create a single-camera comedy that should be set to air in 2013. Though the specifics of plot are unknown, sources say that the series may be inspired by Fox's own life. Fox has had some inspiring appearances of his own on other TV series lately, including a great Emmy-nominated turn as attorney Louis Canning on CBS's critical hit The Good Wife, as well as a brief but memorable few episodes as a version of himself on Larry David's long-running HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm. According to Vulture, industry sources are using the phrases "feeding frenzy" and "bidding war" over the idea of the s eries, which is currently being developed by Sony Pictures. IRON MAN 3 Production Delayed So Robert Downey Jr. Can Recover from Ankle Injury
Downey down!  Robert Downey Jr. injured his ankle while shooting Iron Man 3, necessitating a delay in production.  Marvel released this statement: "Robert Downey Jr. sustained an ankle injury on the set of Iron Man 3 in Wilmington, North Carolina while performing a stunt. There will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates." Thankfully, "short" does not imply a serious injury, and Downey should be back in action in plenty of time to make the May 3, 2013 release of Iron Man 3.  Ben Kingsley, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Rebecca Hall,  Ashley Hamilton, and Guy Pearce also star in the superhero sequel directed by Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang). - mediamage
Second Wave of FANTASTIC FEST 2012 Line-Up Announced; Includes LOOPER, THE ABCs of DEATH, and SINISTER
Last month, Fantastic Fest announced the first-wave of movies included in their line-up. Today, they've announced Wave Two, and there's even more greatness on the way. The big name additions are Rian Johnson's Looper, the horror anthology The ABCs of Death, and the Ethan Hawke horror flick Sinister. While these are awesome films to have in the line-up and they'll unquestionably pack the house, Fantastic Fest is all about finding the smaller genre flicks, and there are fifteen smaller movies in addition to the three I mentioned above. Sight & Sound Unveils Its Full Top 250 List; Includes BLADE RUNNER, NORTH BY NORTHWEST, and MODERN TIMES
Earlier this month, Sight & Sound released its list of the Top 50 Films of All-Time as decided by critics along with Top 10 lists from various big-name directors. The major "news" was that on the critics' list, Vertigo overtook Citizen Kane as "The Greatest Movie of All Time™". Sight & Sound is worth talking about because they only make it once a decade. However, the list should really only be used as a guide for what every cinephile should see in their lifetime. The fact that Vertigo has a number "1" in front of it doesn't really mean much since you could watch Vertigo and Citizen Kane together in an afternoon. Today, Sight & Sound has released its full Top 250 list and that's where you'll find other classics like Blade Runner, North by Northwest, Modern Times, and more.
